FAQs
KNOWING YOUR HAIR POROSITY IS KEY TO MAINTAINING AND HAVING HEALTHY HAIR.
Ever wonder why your hair feels dry the next day or two day after you have just moisturized it or why your hair is prone to be really frizzy and damages easily, well it is due to lack of not knowing what your hair porosity is. When you know what your hair porosity is you moisturize your hair properly and use products that cater to your hair porosity.
WHAT IS HAIR POROSITY
Hair Porosity refers to how well your hair takes in moisture and retains it. Low Porosity hair, the cuticle has a hard time absorbing and holding onto moisture and conditioning oils due to it being tightly closed. Low Porosity hair also tends to be protein sensitive, leaving your hair dry and brittle and experiences product build up. High Porosity hair, the cuticle is always open, allowing moisture to flow in but not retain it. High Porosity hair is also prone to being dry and coarse, which can lead to damage hair.
HAIR POROSITY TEST
To find out what your hair porosity is you are going to get a cup of water and a strand of your hair. You are then going to drop the stand of hair in the water and wait to see your results. If the strand of hair sits on top of the water you have low porosity hair due to it not absorbing the water and if it sinks to the bottom you have high porosity hair due to your hair absorbing the water.
